They Are Inexpensive to Purchase and Maintain
Scooters can be purchased for as little as $1,000 or less and even the most elegant, elaborate, and expensive scooters are generally less than $5,000.
Many scooters can also travel up to 80 miles on a single gallon of gas, so it may be a long time between fill-ups.
When you do need to fill up, it won’t cost you a whole lot since most scooters only hold anywhere from one to three gallons of gas.
Maintenance costs are also much lower on a scooter since they have a simple engine and very few electronic parts.
Last but not least, scooters are also very inexpensive to register in most states.
In some states, an annual registration may run you less than $10, if one is even required.
You Can Park Them Almost Anywhere
People that live or travel in downtown or metropolitan areas know how difficult it can be to find parking, not to mention expensive.
Many cities allow scooters to be parked right on the sidewalk or in a bike rack, where you can also use a chain or wheel lock to secure them to something stationary for additional security.
They Are Inexpensive to Insure
Scooter insurance may run you as little as only a few dollars a month.
In many cases, if you bundle your scooter insurance with your auto, renter’s, or homeowner’s insurance, you may end up paying nothing.
That being said, many of the larger insurance companies don’t offer scooter insurance but that is okay because there are plenty of companies that actually specialize in scooter insurance.

You May Not Need a Special License to Operate One
While some states will require you to have a motorcycle license to operate a scooter, many states only require a special license if the scooter exceeds 50 ccs.
That being said, motorcycle licenses are fairly easy to acquire with a scooter and are generally significantly less expensive than a regular driver’s license.
