There are times when you want to splurge out on the things you love and there are times when you just cannot afford to. For times like these, when the economy is sputtering, you need smarter ways to spend your money and still have the time of your life. Vacations do not have to be subtracted, rather they need to be planned and executed without subtracting too much out of your monetary balance and the best way to do so is by thinking smart. Here are some of the best ways to plan your next amazing golf tour without burning a hole in your pockets!

Keep your Dates Flexible:

Weekend stays are usually pricier that odd days or week days. You could plan your trip between a Monday and a Thursday since these are days when some of the best golf packages are available in relation to the prices. Do not be too rigid on visiting only on the weekends. Plan your trip well in advance so that you can manage your work more efficiently when you are out vacationing for that period of time.

Play in the Afternoons:

Morning hours are the tee time for golfing. You could save on a lot if you prefer to play in the afternoons instead as you would also get an additional break. But if your group wants a whole night in town you could also book a p.m. tee time and carry on your game into the wee hours of morning. Most of the clubs usually have the afternoon slots as empty since a lot of people vacationing prefer to rest during that time of the day.

Bring In More People:

There are some clubs which offer packages where the more the people, in the package the better the discounts and deals that come along. So make sure that you have as big a group as any so to save wholesomely. Also, there is that mantra always “More people, more fun.” So this time ensure that you golf tours is filled with all your gaming buddies. Also the more the number of the people in a foreign country the more safe you will feel in exploring the place since it is always advised not to travel individually or in pairs due to risk of theft or robbery.

Choose your Courses Alongside your Stay:

One of the simplest ways of saving on travel expenditure is to choose golf courses that are closer to your hotel or place of accommodation. This allows you accessibility at any time of the day and also ensures that you do not have to spend a bomb just getting there by cab or car. Preferably choose a hotel that has a golf course within its premises so that you can save much more on any additional travel expense.

Eat In:

Select those packages that offer you a three time meal option through the day so that you do not have to splurge on fast food which can sometimes be really expensive in foreign countries. Such packages also generally offer additional options if the number of people in the group are more. If you are hiring a cottage you could also select on the menu since that food option is available when it comes to luxury accommodation.

Golf tours are the best when every element of the trip is planned before hand so that you do not waste your time and energy during the trip but can peacefully reap the benefits of your timely planning.

    “Thanks!,

I love golf, but i simply hate the amount of money one needs to spend with playing the sport. I picked up the game a few years ago and its almost like instant adrenalin flows through my veins when i think of the green pastures and the weather i experienced in Ireland on my last golf tour. I agree with the points George has mentioned but would like to ad a few off my personal experiences. For instance, yes you can take only 14 golf clubs with you but why carry only a few balls. When on a golf tour its advisable to carry a few more balls and of one brand only so that it is easier for your caddy to get them back once you have made the hole. Check the web, I know you have been going on tours via certain golf tours agent but there are many who offer the same or better deal without compromising on luxury and can help you save a great deal of money. I would also recommend using of tees on the teeing ground, I use very few tees from my golf bag, because there are always some laying around on the teeing area. And, the golf course superintendents will love you because it keeps their mowers sharp (less tees to chop up!). Well I hope that helps!”

I don’t play myself but when I did it took a lot of practice just to be lousy. Never played again.

Good one George, I feel there are a few things first timers should do before heading on golf tours and one of them is certainly surfing the web to find interesting articles like this one. I feel it is more important to be prepared than to be disapppointed and say what an adventure! I go on golf tours 4 times a year and play golf on weekends at the local golf course. I remember when i had been to Las Vegas to Silverstone Golf Club, well I must say it is a very charming place to be and specially in the summer days. There are a lot of people who love to visit there in summers and they place is practically crouded. Hence one need to be smart or you just wont get to play. For instance as George said the mornings are always full and afternoons go in resting. Well so one should propably wait and add a but of sun tan and get out to play in the afternoon. It is absolutely fab and the caddies also find it easier to work with you. It’s a win win!

“Great article. You’re right, its important to plan when going for a gold vacation. I wish i had read this one before I went for my golf vacation!
I was on my first golf trip to Canada.I was quite excited as I had never been to Canada before but well I felt lets take a chance and do a bit of adventure so I went alone! I had rented a room at one of the resorts offering golf. Upon arrival the staff was not friendly or helpful. I was given the wrong directions to the pro shop where they had no record of our confirmed reservation. The carts were filthy, no water or GPS system was provided. The staff did not inform us it was cart path only until the ranger drove up and admonished me! Could not have been more unpleasant about something something no one bothered to tell me.
No one told me the greens had been aerated and that the practice range was closed.
I wish I had planned this trip better. I know Golf tours are the best when planned through a proper Gold tours and travels agent. I have been to 3 tours since to Canada itself with a couple of my golf buddies and am certain to not repeat the mistake of going unplanned!
