Home Improvement on a Budget: Tips for Interior Design in 2014
The New Year is slowly approaching and along with it comes a whole new perspective in the home improvement and interior design industry. Before sharing the tips for interior design on a budget in 2014, let’s take a recap of what 2013 meant in the home improvement industry.
A Recap of 2013’s Most Important Furniture and Interiors Updates
2013 brought a significant change into the scenery of interior design, especially in the case of designs for home and everyday use. New bold colors emerged, including Purple, Yellow, Metallic White, Blue or Green. We saw a lot of minimalist influences, including small coffee tables, transparent shower cabins and metallic beds. We also saw a lot of nature inspired bedroom designs and bathroom designs, kitchens in the style of open bars with large open space livings.
Ikea minimalist influences ruled this year, we can say, in terms of affordable and interesting designs. But not only brands had a share of 2013’s profit. We saw more and more small local businesses benefiting from exposure in the online, hand-carved furniture and handmade interior designs. Which means people were starting to enjoy more custom made than mass produced. The eco-designs brought green products and green designs into the spotlight, as well. 2013 had the support of digital marketing campaigns and superstars who went eco all the way.
Tips for Interior Design in 2014
If you think 2013 was interesting, wait until you see what the New Year has planned for all of us. First off, vintage furniture will still be in high demand, but minimalist furniture will not lose space, as well.
Kitchens will be accentuated by comfort and simple designs to facilitate the usage of common appliances and households. Of course, the better eco products, the better. Colors to trend in kitchens in 2014 include: Green, Metal, Red, White, Blue, Rouge (Red).
Bedrooms will suffer changes. There will be a preference for custom made bedroom furniture and colors such as blue, white, red, kaki with handmade decorations, floral pillows and silky curtains, as well as vivid patterns.
Bathrooms still go for the minimalist approach, with rich wide spaces, large hot tubs and transparent showers. As a common design, blue, red and dark are still among the preferred choices, with floral accents and nature-inspired ornaments.
Overall, the furniture will either be vintage or minimalist, with colorful tables, interesting and out of the ordinary wall designs and ornaments. Handmade is still in high demand, to add a touch of traditional yet original. The best part is that interior design comes in 2014 with a better perspective: get what you want without spending too much money. Affordable designs are the new trend!
